How Other Animals Get the Better of Wolves

Wolvesmay be formidable predators but they are not invincible. Of course, many animals have evolved tactics to avoid the wily dogs. Wolves, especially grays, are one of thevery few animalsthat when killed by a bear tend to stay eaten; Bears and wolves aren’t too likely to survive a fight. Durability- with the mere mass of their species, they can overwhelm anyone in a fight.

Mountain lions, with all their purpose and brutal agility, can also put wolves at risk. The big cats, often stalk their prey from above tall grasses — or just in plain sight. including wolves! And in certain ecosystems, wolves and mountain lions compete like species partners that are simultaneously sharing the same ecological niche.

Sometimes even smaller animals allow themselves to be the more powerful side. Wolverines, are famed for their incredible aggressiveness and occasional theft of wolf kills (they have even been known to kill young wolves! Wolves rank high up the food chain, though they do not sit at the top. The foods that eat wolves begin to develop ideas about how the predator-prey natural relationships in nature create such a delicate balance.
